Innsbruck has four Christmas markets for you to visit – from the traditional Christkindlmarkt (Christ Child market) in the old town, to the more modern market in Maria-Theresien-Straße, there’s something for everyone.

New Year

in the Mountains

Celebrate and welcome the New Year in the middle of the mountains in the heart of Tyrol. You can find information about our package here or book direct.

An enjoyable program of live music and shows on several stages in the center of Innsbruck will accompany you until 1.30 am. The highlight will be at midnight: huge fireworks accompanied by the traditional waltz the Donauwalzer light up the mountains in a spectacular sight.

Winter activities

Innsbruck is known as the Olympic city and offers its guests a wide variety of sport activities. In winter you will find many various ski regions which offer a lot of fun outdoors in the fresh air. It doesn’t matter whether it is your first time skiing or if you are already an advanced skier. The best ski conditions are guaranteed and the regional ski pass enables you to use public transport for free between the city of Innsbruck and the nearby ski areas.


Sledging has become one of the most favourite Winter sports in Tyrol: a fast walk or if you prefer a relaxing stroll up the mountain – cottage lunch and the quick ride down. Exercise, amusement and fun in one!

Ice skating

Ice skating, a popular sport is becoming even more attractive – you will have even more fun iceskating in the new Olympiaworld for example in the arena of the Tiroler Wasserkraft or on the Hockey field outdoors or on the fast ice-skating ring. Off the slopes and cross-country ski tracks together we will discover the magic of the fairy tale winter scenery: snowshoeing, sleigh rides, torch tours and lots more.
